IDT Corp. Announces Construction of Additional Carrier Hotel and Data Center Facilities

Newark, New Jersey location will solidify IDT's existing Collocation and Data Center Operations. Additional Data Centers planned for Miami, Los Angeles and Europe.

NEWARK, N.J. - February 22, 2000 - IDT Corporation (NASDAQ: IDTC), a leading multinational carrier, telephone company, and Internet Service Provider, today announced the first phase of construction of a carrier hotel and data center of approximately 200,000 square feet at its new international headquarters at 520 Broad Street, Newark, New Jersey. The project is in addition to IDT's recently completed 11,000 square foot, next-generation programmable and gateway switching facility located at Halsey Street in Newark.

In a carrier hotel, multiple telecommunications carriers collocate and interconnect their switches and networks. In a data center, Internet Service Providers, e-commerce companies and the Internet divisions of traditional enterprises can securely collocate, manage their servers and connect to the Internet backbone through high capacity bandwidth fiber networks. IDT already provides such services to numerous partners, including regional Bell operating companies (RBOCs) and incumbent international carriers at its two New Jersey facilities in Hackensack and Piscataway.

"The exponential growth of our existing carrier hotels and data facilities in New Jersey makes construction of the Broad Street, Newark facility critical to our continued growth and underscores the opportunities available to us in these businesses," said Howard Jonas, IDT Chairman and CEO. "This new project reflects IDT's intent to enhance its existing presence and to become a market leader in the carrier hotel and data center arenas."

The construction will include increasing the electrical supply at the location, reinforcing the structure to support greater floor loads, and connecting to multiple large bandwidth fiber networks. The first phase of the construction is projected to be open to tenants in the summer of 2000. IDT is already in discussions with potential tenants regarding the leasing of space in the project and expects to announce a leasing agent shortly.

IDT has entered into an Interconnection Agreement with MCI Worldcom (NASDAQ:WCOM) in order to link the Broad Street, Newark location to the MCI Worldcom fiber network. IDT also is in negotiations with other major fiber companies to interconnect their fiber backbones at this facility.

In addition, Howard Jonas announced plans to expand existing facilities in Miami and Los Angeles into full service data centers. Including the Broad Street, Newark location, IDT will have five data centers in the United States. IDT also has plans for the construction of data centers in Europe, including the expansion of its existing data center operations in London, Rotterdam, Frankfurt, and Brussels.

"With our new, flagship data center in Newark, IDT is strategically positioned to lead the migration of telco companies from traditional circuit switching to fully integrated telecommunications, Internet and data network services," said Jim Courter, IDT President. "Our facility will be the hub for a global network of state-of-the-art centers which will be interconnected over IDT's technologically advanced fiber optic network."

Those interested in data services or leasing space at any of IDT's facilities should contact Moshe Kaganoff at (201)928-4381
