Newark, NJ-March 10, 2000-IDT Corp. (NASDAQ:IDTC) is pleased to announce that Admiral Bill Owens (US Navy retired) has been elected to the IDT Corporation's Board of Directors. Admiral Owens is currently Co-Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of Teledesic LLC, which is building the first satellite communications network that will enable affordable, worldwide access to "fiber-like" telecommunications services such as broadband Internet access, videoconferencing and interactive media. IDT Corp. is a leading multinational carrier, telephone company and Internet Service Provider.

Prior to his post at Teledesic, Bill Owens was the President, Chief Operating Officer and Vice Chairman of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). Previously, Admiral Owens served as Vice Chairman of the United States Military's Joints Chiefs of Staff, the second highest-ranking military officer position in the country. He held this post from 1994 to 1996. Prior to that, he served as the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Resources, Warfare Requirements and Assessments, Commander of the United States Sixth Fleet and Senior Military Assistant to Secretaries of Defense Frank Carlucci and Dick Cheney.

Admiral Owens holds Board of Director positions with several other corporate, non-profit and governmental organizations, including the Carnegie Foundation, the Center for Excellence in Education, the Department of Defense - Defense Policy Board, Microvision, Polycom, Inc., Teledesic LLC and Viasat, Inc. Admiral Owens received his B.S. in Mathematics from the United States Naval Academy, ranking in the top 10 percent of his class. As a Rhodes Scholar, he later graduated with honors from Oxford University with a B.A. and M.A. in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. He also received an M.B.A from George Washington University, again graduating with honors.

Admiral Owens' appointment is a reaffirmation of IDT's commitment to excellence. Brown were elected to the Board of Directors.
